Texas is located in the south-central USA. It is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico, the southeastern states, the southwestern states and the great plains states. Most of it is located on plains and rolling hills though a portion in the west is mountainous. Texas is not a desert as it is portrayed in some media. Most of it gets ample rainfall. Actually, the section around Houston receives more rainfall than other American areas.

Texas has the second biggest area and population in the US. It's area consists of 268,820 square miles and it's population is 24.6 million. It's major cities include Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, El Paso and Austin.

Texas is a big scene for popular music especially country. The Austin area is well known for it's music. In addition, the music is highly influenced by Texas' neighbor Mexico.
