Texas is located in the south-central USA. It is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico, the southeastern states, the southwestern states and the great plains states. Most of it is located on plains and rolling hills though a portion in the west is mountainous. Texas is not a desert as it is portrayed in some media. Most of it gets ample rainfall. Actually, the section around Houston receives more rainfall than other American areas.

Several large Petroleum companies are located in the state. These include Exxon-Mobil, Conoco-Phillips, Halliburton, Marathon Oil, and Valero.

Texas is also the top state in wind power production.
